Emily Copeland

Professor Emily Copeland is a political scientist interested in conflict and cooperation and reactions to forced migrations. She mainly studies refugee and migration issues. Copeland graduated from Lawrence University and attended graduate school at Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Her passion for language and politics is reflected in her courses at Bryant as well as her research.
Professor Copeland received a Fulbright Fellowship for Slovac, where she learned the language and broadened her knowledge of the world. She also received a Watson Fellowship. This allowed her to propose a project and travel to complete it, sending her to Europe, Egypt, Zimbabwe and Sudan. She studied refugee relief programs such as the UN Refugee Agency and Doctors Without Borders. Copeland worked on Capitol Hill, with the World Bank and with Save the Children. Copeland is fluent in German, Russian, French and Arabic. She has lived around the world through her work and fellowships.
Professor Copeland came to Bryant in 2004. Her favorite course is Introduction to Global Politics as it allows her to cover a wide range of topics and expose students to international relations.
