Senior Capstone
Every Global Studies major or concentrator needs to complete the Global Studies capstone course. Most students complete their capstone in the fall or spring of their senior year. They work closely with a faculty member on both developing the course and working through the class during a semester. Students design the course themselves selecting the readings, assignments and projects they plan to complete during the semester. Capstone students may also present their research to other students and faculty at the end of the semester.
In order to promote the great work being done with the Global Studies capstones, we have posted final projects here.

Spring 2019: How the Commonwealth Statues of Puerto Rico and the Financial Debt Crisis has shaped the Puerto Rican Labor Regulations, Labor Market and the Effects on its Citizens
Throughout her educational career at Bryant University, Krystal Feliciano had a great passion for Global Economics. Her capstone reflects her interest and is a representation on how her research and classes have helped her figure out ways to help and understand the situation of her country, Puerto Rico. Her capstone also includes elements from her interests in labor law regulations and its politics which lead her to pursue a degree in Law (J.D.) in the fall of 2020. Krystal prepared for her capstone over the course of two years. She started with her research from R.E.D. (Research and Engagement Day) and was able to expand on her topic and define it as her Global Studies Capstone thanks to Professor Perullo and the faculty. "I am very proud of the professional I have become but most importantly a well rounded citizen who will continue to pursue the matters that are closest to me - my Puerto Rican community." Spring 2018: The Anthropocene and Water, Claire Gracia and MiaLynne Park
During their college careers, MiaLynne and Claire had a strong interest in environmental sustainability. They both took courses that allowed them to learn about the environment and also worked with non-profits and campus organizations on issues related to sustainability. In their capstone, they decided to focus on water and climate change with a particular focus on environmental problems in Latin America and Asia. To that end, they used the capstone semester to create a resource guide for people to learn about specific problems related to the impact of humans on water. The resource guide includes readings and information about environmental problems in China, México, the Maldives, and Peru. The topics address sea level rise, ocean acidification, pollution and glacial melt. In addition, the authors discuss human induced environmental problems in water, the causes and effects of each problem, and its effect on humans.
