Membership is selective, requiring a 3.4 GPA in 21 credits of Global Studies courses. Many Congratulations to Alexandra Page, Conor Sergel and Laura Skoly!
Along with the induction of two new members of Sigma Iota Rho, the Global Studies Program also recognizes this year’s Commencement Award Winner in Global Studies: Mario Balaban. Mario has maintained a 3.82 GPA in all Global Studies courses overall, he is an International Business major with a Global Studies concentration. Congratulations on this exemplary achievement Mario!
The crest of the society (pictured right) draws on the meanings of the three Greek letters that form its name. Sigma stands for "synesis," meaning prudence, iota for "ideodoi," meaning ideals, and "rho" for "rhomi," meaning power, the three basic qualities necessary in the study of international affairs.
