United Nations Association-USA Event At Bryant University
November 7, 2019
By Jennifer Mitchell
On October 25th, Bryant University had the pleasure of hosting speaker Marco Sanchez from the United Nations Association United States of America (UNA-USA). This was in honor of the 74th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and in celebration of all they’ve accomplished. Every year, a theme is chosen based on the United Nations top priorities. This year’s topic was on the climate crisis. The presentation centered around the effects of the climate crisis, what the United Nations and UNA-USA are doing to combat this, and how everyday people can help. Marco also discussed the history behind UNA-USA, an organization of Americans advocating for and educating people on the vital work of the United Nations. UNA-USA is a nation-wide organization comprised of people committed to supporting the United Nations and their missions. A chapter at Bryant University is in the process of being established which will support many more events like this in the future.

Applying to the Peace Corps
Timeline and Initiation
When I decided to apply for the Peace Corps, I heard from multiple people that the application took a while and was difficult. That made me nervous at first but once I started applying, it wasn’t as bad as everyone said. Once I knew that Peace Corps could be in my future, I spoke to friends who have done it and listened in on workshops, hosted by Peace Corps. I decided to start looking at job postings in September and started to write my personal essay. In the beginning of October, I saw a position that interested me, fit my skills and would leave in early September of 2018.
